Craft Beer tap takeover

Tap Takeover Season

Since opening in February, Voyageur Brewing Company has had the pleasure of participating in several tap takeovers in bars and restaurants along the north shore. A tap takeover is when a brewery literally takes over one or all of the taps in an establishment so regular patrons can try new beers.

Our first tap takeover was at the site of our friend and neighbor, Gunflint Tavern in Grand Marais. Open since 1998, the Gunflint Tavern crafts its own excellent beers and is a beloved destination of many visitors to Cook County. Voyageur Brewing offered all its flagship beers, and enjoyed serving folks only a block away from its permanent home on Highway 61.

We then hosted a tap takeover at Sir Benedict’s Tavern on the Lake, a special location on Superior Street in Duluth. All visitors are charmed by this English-style pub with its scenic views, and we enjoyed the evening there.

Not long ago we hosted a tap takeover at Grizzly’s, at the Miller Hill Mall in Duluth. We were delighted to serve our beer in such a lively and fun location.

Perhaps our most special tap takeover so far has been at Carmody’s Irish Pub in Duluth, the former home of our brewer, Jason Baumgarth. Known for brewing its own marvelous beers, Carmody’s offers 26 other craft beers on tap and a cozy, old-world pub-style atmosphere. Jason’s former coworkers, friends and well-wishers made it a happy and exciting evening.

We invite you to join us on June 12th for a tap takeover at 7 West Taphouse, an extraordinary outlet for great craft beer from everywhere, and amazing food. If you can’t make it to Grand Marais, come see us in Duluth!
