He is also a Central Minnesota Arts Board McKnight Foundation Artist Career Development Grant Winner. \nDave was invited back to entertain for the Library of Congress in February 2017\, this time alongside Billy Bragg\, Si Kahn and Terra (Gordon) Lightfoot. \nDave typically plays 200+ shows per year and has entertained at a wide variety of venues across the world. From festivals and art galleries to breweries\, wineries\, coffee shops and bistros\, to college residencies and theaters in the Midwest\, Ireland\, England\, and Germany\, Dave’s live shows are entertaining\, engaging and audience-inclusive.

DESCRIPTION:Enjoy craft beer and live music at Voyageur Brewing Company in Grand Marais\, Minnesota.\nMinnesota based Folk-Rock singer/songwriter and active musicologist\, Matthew Griswold\, is currently playing hundreds of his modern day minstrel-like shows each year. Though a “solo” performer in trade title\, he carries a chorus of layered guitars and an array of dynamic vocal themes. Those elements are all then supported by a boot strapped foot stomping on a cigar box foot drum keeping a sacred element to the music. \nGriswold’s performances are rugged\, haunting\, howling\, bone-shaking affairs where all of the grit and soul of a man who has seen the war torn battlefields of Iraq\, yet still sought hope after the worst of it’s tragedies\, are brought forth through one voice and one guitar. He confidently leaves his crowds cradled in subtleties\, but rocked with an undeniable presence. Those who witness him live\, will experience a musician who inhabits\, and is inhabited by\, his music as if it were a spiritual transformation allowing him to become a fearless poet calling out through a cadence and dancing in the dragon’s den. \nHe has crafted an arrangement style of his own (“Hypno-tonic Grooves”)\, which he employs to reinvent classics\, adapt traditional standards\, and plug original work that stand in tribute to their deep lineage. With a well-honed talent\, ego-less work ethic\, and applied insights of ethnomusicology tilting the odds in his favor\, Griswold has become one of the country’s most active independent working musicians. He has over ten years of strategic millage marked by thousands of live performances and hundreds of intriguing press features. Just barely in his 30s\, he continues to build a dense catalog of works to be preserved by those he  proudly refers to as “Witnesses of a Fellowship”. \nGriswold has gained both industry notoriety and scholar respect as a Contemporary Folk music maker\, and while having had many of his original songs and compositions used in various films\, TV shows and commercials around the world through an elite contract with Universal Music Publishing\, no matter where you find footing\, you’re never far from someone who has likely been spellbound by the sounds that flow beside the howling edge of his hopeful hymns.

DESCRIPTION:Enjoy live music\, cold craft beer\, and tasty appetizers at Voyageur Brewing Company in Grand Marais\, Minnesota.\nGene and Amy have been writing and performing together since 2012 and moved to the North Shore of Lake Superior in August of 2014 Their emphasis is on acoustic style duet performances of their original songs as well as unique renditions of some of their favorite artists from Dylan to dirt old country. \nGene LaFond has been writing and performing for over 50 years. He has opened for Bob Dylan and has performed original songs twice\, with his pal the late Larry Kegan\, at Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit Concert (a songwriter showcase put on in San Francisco by Neil for nearly 30\,000 fans to raise money for the Bridge School for Disabled Children). \nGene has played numerous venues throughout the years in the Twin Cities as well as a dozen or more times with renowned violinist Scarlet Rivera. Gene has also performed and traveled with legendary folk musician Ramblin Jack Elliott. \nFormer cowgirl and junk artist Amy Grillo began singing around the campfires and in the bars and music venues of Minnesota’s Iron Range. Her ear for harmony and a good story are what give her songs a unique\, earthy and relatable feel. Her sweet harmonies and lyrical talent are a perfect compliment to Gene’s vocal and guitar picking style.
