It feels like summer is in full swing with temperatures last week well above normal for this time of the year. Guests enjoyed their cold pints of beer on the rooftop and on the lower outside patio.

A bright mix of sunny citrus and pine, American Point APA is just like it’s namesake on Saganaga Lake at the end of the Gunflint Trail. Towering pines line the shore of American Point in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. It’s this point where folks who get a tow get dropped off to begin their BWCAW canoe trip. This tasty beer is perfect for whatever adventure awaits you around the next point.
Some fun and unique things about this pale ale are we used an heirloom English malt variety, Marris Otter and very light Belgian crystal malts… A fun way to get a deep and compelling malt character with large amounts of resinous American hops.

We also just tapped our Swamper Czech Pilsner! A beer with a name that carries many meanings in the north woods, Swamper is an easy-drinking Pilsner that is sure to refresh in the summer months.
An Ojibwe trapper, Swamper Caribou was a many whose name was given to the well-known lake on the Gunflint Trail. Helpers or assistants to captains are considered swampers and if you’re riding in the middle of a canoe, you just might be called a swamper.
This crisp effervescent beer would taste wonderful after a hard day’s swamping work of following a sawyer through the woods but there’s no need to go to such extremes.
A high quality lager with a light golden color, this particular brew took several months to ferment and condition. Our goal was to give you something as rich and fleeting as a northern Minnesota summer, a quality of light and clarity of flavor unavailable anywhere else. Whichever swamper definition you identify with most closely , we hope one sip will make you swoon.
